Angela Hawse has worked as a full-time professional guide and outdoor educator for over two decades, following her passion of being in the mountains, teaching and sharing this with others. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Outdoor Education, and a Master of Arts degree in International Mountain Conservation, both from Prescott College in Arizona. Since the early 90’s, she has led over 20 high altitude expeditions, many to remote corners of the earth. Highlights have included 5 Denali Expeditions, Carstensz Pyramid, Ama Dablam, Everest, Aconcagua and unnamed peaks in Pakistan. In 1998, she was the Deputy Leader of the Everest Challenge Expedition and played a key role in the first disabled ascent of Mt. Everest. She has worked as an educator and technical climbing guide for some of the country’s most elite college programs and guide services, and is an Instructor for the American Mountain Guides Association training and certification program. She has served on the AMGA Board of Directors for six years.
Angela is a certified rock, alpine and ski mountaineering guide with the American Mountain Guides Association and internationally certified by the IFMGA/UIAGM. She is a Sponsored Athlete , a professional rigger with the Primal Quest Adventure Races’ Climbing Team, and a Corporate Motivational Speaker. She has a solid history of incorporating community and environmental service-work into her mountain endeavors. Projects have included a clean-up on Everest to remove over 100 oxygen bottles and 1000kg of garbage.
