Sarah Garlick has spent over twelve years climbing all types of geologic terrain, from granite big walls and sandstone towers to eroded volcanic necks and glacial erratic boulders. Based in North Conway, New Hampshire, Garlick is the founder and director of The Geoscience Outreach Foundation, a nonprofit organization that develops science education projects for public audiences. Garlick has a bachelor’s degree in geology from Brown University and a master’s degree in structural geology and tectonics from the University of Wyoming. Garlick serves as a science editor for the Wyoming State Geological Survey and for the scientific journal Rocky Mountain Geology, and she has contributed to such publications as Rock and Ice, Climbing, Urban Climber, Alpinist, and Patagonia.
